The Bill of Rights Institute

  • The Bill of Rights Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded to further civic education in American classrooms. BRI provides instruction material, seminars, and other programs and resources to students and teachers to equip them to “live the ideals of a free and just society.”

    Source Collection: Our website features a primary and secondary source library that we are constantly growing. In this position, a student would be assigned an era (ex. Gilded Age) and asked to find primary and reputable secondary sources to add to the site. Service hours are offered.

    Community Outreach: Become a regional president! Get our resources used in classrooms within your area and conduct surveys on teachers and students about how effective our materials are or what changes they would like to see in education. Service hours are offered.

    Resource Development: Help us create classroom supplements and student/educator resource sets (ex. Our DEI toolkit). Service hours are offered.

    Are you eager to fundraise for a political campaign? During this program, you'll learn how to prepare, execute, and follow-up on call time as well as how to handle challenges faced by Call Time Managers.

Young People’s Alliance (NC)

  • YPA is a youth advocacy nonprofit founded and led entirely by college students and young adults. Our teams on Capitol Hill, in state legislatures, and across 9 college campuses work to empower young people in politics. We engage and mobilize students through voter registration and mobilization events, hosting community events to connect students to the political world, and advocating for youth issues on campus and with lawmakers at the federal and state level.

  • Field Director Spring 2024

    We are seeking a Field Director to coordinate our on-campus operations. You will be directly working with our executive staff to design and execute a strategy to organize and engage young people. In the past, this has included organizing/hosting events with local politicians, conducting voter registration drives, executing activities to turn young people out to vote, and advocating for pro-democracy changes to university policy.

    Candidates must be students at a University in North Carolina.

    The ideal candidate has a strong sense of commitment, canvassing/customer service experience, leadership/management experience, and a passion for public affairs. However, students not meeting these qualifications are encouraged to apply as long as you have the work ethic to learn on the job and the commitment to continuing to work on this project throughout the semester.

    Estimated Time Commitment: Approx. 5 hours/week

    Range: Up to $100/Week
